Important Notice: AGM cum Elections on 4 April 2011

Please be reminded that our society's annual general meeting will be held on 4 April 2011, Monday from 19:30 to 21:30 at AS6/0212 and the presence of all members is requested.

The details of the present candidates for the upcoming elections is available at the page "Candidates for the 1st Elections AY11/12". Do refer to the page to be better informed of each candidate's profile. For members who are still interested in running for elections, the deadline for applications has been extended to 2 April 2011, 1700 sharp. The deadline is final.

Do take note of the Elections procedure:
  • All candidates are required to be present throughout the elections, have to make a compulsory speech (maximum time: 5 minutes) and answer questions posted after his/her speech from the current committee and other members. 
  • After every candidate has given a speech, all present will vote. 
  • Voting is confidential and colluding between members and candidates is disallowed. 
  • Only one name can be written for each position and repetition of names is disallowed. 
  • Any incorrect voting slips will be forfeited.
  • Counting of votes will be done in front of all present.
  • Votes will be immediately tabulated on the board.
  • If there is no clear winner with a majority of votes, the particular position will be re-contested.
  • After all clear winners have been chosen, the elections will conclude with the announcement of results by outgoing committee and the pledge of commitment by the incoming committee members.

Also, our current President will be endorsing CCA Cards for contributions by members this academic year (AY1011) after the AGM so do bring along your CCA Card. Do note that requests to endorse CCA cards for this academic year will not be entertained after the present committee steps down. And such, we seek your cooperation.

Elections for AY11/12 Notice

Dear all,

Our society will be holding our elections in Week 11 (4 April 2011, 7.30 - 9.30 PM, AS6/0212) in conjunction with our annual general meeting. Students who are interested in running for any of the eight available positions, please complete and email the following application form to me by 31st March 2011, 2359:

Title: Exco Application AY11/12
  1. Full Name
  2. Matriculation Number
  3. Year & Course of Study
  4. Level of German
  5. Interested Positions (1st & 2nd choices)
  6. Personal Bio
  7. What & how you can contribute to the society
And here are some rules and regulations for elections:
  • Anyone who wish to run for a post must be a member of the society. If you are not a member yet, please sign up before the elections
  • Elected candidates are to serve in the committee for one academic year (AY10/11)
  • Application forms will be screened by the current core committee before posting on the blog as information for all
  • All candidates who are successfully registered will have to give a 5 min speech during the election day in order to be qualified to run for the position
  • Late applications will not be accepted
  • Only members are allowed to vote
The positions are as follows:
  • President
  • Vice-President
  • General Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Project Director 1/2
  • Marketing Director
  • Editor

Results for 2nd Elections AY10/11

Hallo everyone!

We had our elections for the second half of the Executive Committee yesterday evening and here are the new additions to the team:

Message to Members AY10/11 - Updates & Important Information

Dear Members (AY10/11),

Thank you once again for joining the society. Here are a few important pieces of information.

Firstly, the elections will be on 27 August, Friday at 7.30pm at YIH Training Room 4.

Secondly, for those who wish to run for Exco. Please complete the following information about yourself and email it to frag.mal.uns@gmail.com with the subject "Exco Application AY10/11". Do send by 25 August 2359.

The received applications will be posted on the blog so that fellow members can find out more about the potential Exco members. The posts available are:

On the election day next Friday, all candidates will have to make a 5 minute speech. After all the speeches, the voting will commence. If two or more candidates have the same number of winning votes for a certain post, the candidates will have to make another short speech and another round of voting will commence until there is a clear winner.

Thirdly, for members who wish to join the sub-committee. Fill in the following details and email to frag.mal.uns@gmail.com with the subject "Sub-Committee Application AY10/11" by 28 August 2359.

Welcome Tea AY10/11

Dear students, members and friends,
We are having a Welcome Tea on this Thursday. More details as follows: -
When: Thursday, 19 August 2010
What time: 7.30pm-9.30pm
Where: LT10 (FASS)

We will also be introducing our Executive Committee and opening up some positions for application on that day. Year 3 and 4 students are also welcome to join us, as long as you have passion for German!

As you can see, as long as you have a passion
for the German culture, you are more than qualified to join. We will also be collecting payment of membership fees. So just bring down $10 and you'll be a member for one academic year to enjoy all our activities!
