Welcome back! Here are some exciting events in Sem 2 AY12/13

Wie geht’s?


This is our very first post in this new semester and we are excited to share with you the whole range of activities lined up for you. Firstly, hope you all have recharged your batteries well during the December holiday and WELCOME BACK!

In Sem 2 AY12/13, our Society will be organising a series of exciting events to share with you more information about Germany, for instance, about its culture and customs. For students who have been to Germany before, you could expect to refresh your memory about your experience there. For those who are learning German currently and planning to go to Germany for holiday or exchange, these events will offer you a glance at living, studying and traveling there. And for those who have little knowledge about Germany, hope your interest will be ignited by these events!


The following is the tentative timetable:

Photo Exhibition Tour: Foto Ausstellung, die vom Goethe Institut organisert (Open to all)


3.       Recess Week (23 February to 3 March)

German Centre Tour & Networking session by SGC (Open to all)


4.       Week 9 (18 March to 22 March)

Movie Marathon and Grillparty (Open to all)


5.       On-going event through-out this semester

Tandem Programme (You have the chance to partner with a native German-speaker!) (Members ONLY)

We will offer all tickets/entry fees at a discount for our members. Additionally, only members have the opportunity to access to special events such as Tandem Program which gives you a chance to partner with a native German-speaker! So for those who hope to obtain first-hand information of Germany and practise communicating in German, it will surely be a wonderful experience for you. More importantly, it is definitely a perfect platform to make new friends and enrich your mind!

So join us as a member of NUS Students’ German Society! The membership fee is ONLY $5/sem and $10/yr.

Call for Applciation!

The NUS Students' German Language Society is pleased to inform you that two of our EXCO positions are open for application for the Semester II, AY2012/13:

A) Editing Director
Job Description:
1. To maintain and upkeep the society’s online pages (Society blog, Facebook page, etc), upon the instructions of the General-Secretary, President or Vice-President.
2. To take photographs at all events and/or for major events. To upload the photographs to the blog and to plan for the blog’s look.
3. To help Project Director 1 and Project Director 2 in the execution of the various events, especially with writing (e.g. posters, writing papers, editing written German)
4. To edit upon the instructions of the Honorary General Secretary, the President or Vice-President or all of them.
5. To update the blog on a regular basis.
6. To be in-charge of all the marketing tasks, including working hand in hand with the marketing director to design posters for events, ensure all the advertisements are sent promptly and all German classes are informed of upcoming events.

B) Marketing Director
Job Description:
1. To go down to all German classes for event publications.
2. To maintain good relationship with ISE club and French club for future events e.g. Bazaar and Stammtisch
3. To link up with the Goethe Institut (together with the Vice-President). The Editor will be the direct liaison between the 2 parties.
4. To link up with DAAD or any other external organisations (together with the Vice-President). The Editor will be the direct liaison between the 2 parties.
5. To present a monthly report on his marketing activities.
6. To source for potential publishers. In the case where the Society has (an) existing publisher(s), the editor will be the direct liaison between the Society and the Publisher.
7. To source for potential sponsors. In the case where the Society has (an) existing sponsor(s), the editor will be the direct liaison between the Society and the Publisher
8. To link up with other NUS clubs in lieu of potential collaborations.
9. To work hand in hand with the editor to design posters for events.
