First Stammtisch of the Semester

Last Thursday (20th September) we held our first Stammtisch of the semester at Munchie Monkeys. German learners and native speakers alike gathered and conversed over food, beer and games. A few of our German teachers also took time off from their busy schedule for this evening of fun, food and cultural exchange. Erster Stammtisch des Semesters

Letzte Woche am Donnerstag (20. September) hat unser erster Stammtisch des Semesters in Munchie Monkeys stattgefunden. Deutschlernenden und auch die Muttersprachler haben zusammen getroffen und haben sich unterhalten. Trotz ihren hektischen Arbeit waren einige von unseren Deutschlehrern auch beim Stammtisch. Leckeres Essen, Bier und Brettspielen haben den Abend noch toller gemacht. Der Abend war voller Spaß, Essen und kulturellen Austausch. Wir hoffen, dass der Stammtisch euch auch Spaß gemacht haben! Stammtisch

Tandem Programme

Many of you would have been assigned a tandem partner by now. For those who already have a tandem partner, please contact him/her as soon as possible. For those who still do not have one, don’t hesitate to email us at frag.mal.uns@gmail.com to register immediately!

Here are some suggestions on the activities that you can undertake with your tandem partner:

1) learn to cook/bake traditional food from your country

2) meet up on campus for meals or simply to chat and learn more about each other’s culture and language

3) explore Singapore to discover its charms! E.g:
a. have a day of sea, sand and sun at Sentosa;
b. visit eating places like Ghim Moh market, Newton Circus, Chong Pang, Smith Street at Chinatown etc. check out http://www.singeat.com/ for more eating places (in mandarin).
c. go shopping at Orchard Road, Vivo City (nearest to NUS!) and other major shopping malls around Singapore
d. sing your evening away at K-box or Party World
e. spend nights out dancing at Zouk/other clubs. Check out http://afterdark.hotspots.com/singapore/review_detail_001_sg_msultan.html for more clubs!
f. enjoy chilling out and having a drink at a pub e.g: CHIJMES at City Hall, Wala-wala at Holland Village etc.
g. play board games at settlers’ café/minds’ cafe
h. visit places of interest like the zoo, night safari etc.

4) Participate in the German club events together! Events coming up soon… Look out for the emails!

Tandem Program

Viele von euch haben schon einen Tandem Partner oder eine Partnerin bekommen. Habt ihr schon einen Kontakt hergestellt, und in etwas zusammen teilgenommen? Wenn nicht, bitte macht mal das baldmöglichst! Wenn ihr noch nicht einen Partner/ eine Partnerin habt, schickt uns bitte sofort eine Email, damit ihr anmelden könnt. Unsere Email Adresse heiβt frag.mal.uns@gmail.com.

Hier gibt’s einige Vorschläge von Aktivitäten, die ihr mit eurem Partner oder eurer Partnerin zusammen machen könnt. Ihr könnt:

1) eurem Partner oder eurer Partnerin beibringen, wie man die traditionellen Essen von eurer Heimat kocht oder backt, oder versuchen, traditionelle Essen von Singapur zu kochen.

2) euch mit eurem Partner oder eurer Partnerin auf dem Campus zum Essen treffen und einfach euch über eure Kulturen und Sprachen unterhalten.

3) die Reize von Singapur entdecken! z.B.:

a. am Strand (z.B. in Sentosa) entspannen.
b. die Plätze besuchen, die für leckeres singapurisches Essen berühmt sind, z.B.: Ghim Moh Markt, Newton Circus, Chong Pang, Smith Street im Chinatown usw. Guckt mal auf http://www.singeat.com/ für mehr Informationen (auf Mandarin).
c. in Orchard Road, Vivo City (das man von NUS schnell erreichen kann) und anderen groβen Einkaufszentren in Singapur einkaufen.
d. abends im K-box oder Party World karaoke singen.

f. in den Kneipen trinken und entspannen , z.B.: CHIJMES am City Hall, Wala-wala in Holland Village usw.

h. Sehenswürdigkeiten besuchen, z.B. der Zoo, die Night Safari usw.

4) zusammen an den Veranstaltungen der Deutschen Sphäre teilnehmen! Die Veranstaltungen kommen bald… Achten Sie auf unsere Emails!

Letzte Woche wurde die erste Besprechung des neuen Klubvorstand abgehalten. Der Vorstand letztes Jahres war dabei, um ihre Zuständigkeiten zu übergeben und um Rat zu geben. Wir möchten ihnen für die Arbeit während des Jahres danken. Ihre Ratschläge waren für uns auch ausserordentlich wertvoll.

Hello! Here are some photos taken from the Welcome Tea 2007 and the first movie screening of the semester. A great number of students attended the AGM and this year we are pleased to welcome many new members. Welcome to die deutsche Sphäre! The movie "Lola Rennt" was great fun. We certainly enjoyed watching it. We have also selected the new Executive Committee of the Society, who will spearhead the Society's activities during this new academic year.
